Byline is back in the swim of things and will once again be sponsoring the Great Lake Plunge open water swim for the 4th edition of the event. The Great Lake Plunge is a community event created by local swimmers who wanted to share their passion for open water swimming in our area’s greatest local natural resource, Lake Michigan. The event is held off Dempster and Greenwood Beach in Evanston and is fully supported and monitored by the local police, fire department, and Evanston lifeguards. There are 1K, 2K, and 4K options for every distance appetite. If you’re re lucky, you may even see the infamous Morley shipwreck, which is located directly under the course.
The race benefits Evanston Swims! a nonprofit that provides free swimming and water safety lessons to Evanston 2nd graders.
