On March 5, Byline was proud to partner with Shore Community Services as a sponsor of Pizzamania in Evanston on Chicago’s North Shore, which was hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Evanston at Gigio’s Pizzeria. Pizzamania is a true Evanston tradition: it’s been hosted by the city’s Kiwanis Club for more than 30 years, in its oldest pizza restaurant!
This year, Byline was honored to be included as a sponsor for this much-loved local Mardi Gras-themed event—after all, when you combine beads, beer for the over-21s, soda and all the pizza you can eat for $15, why wouldn’t proud North Shore Byliners be proud to attend (all for a good cause, of course)!
Shore Community Services has been serving its mission to improve the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities through educational, residential, vocational and other related programs, since 1949. It’s certainly grown since the early days, when founders Thomas and Lois Lloyd offered up their own basement as a base for local families dealing with issues related to mental and physical challenges. Now, more than 400 individuals in the community receive regular help and support!
The Kiwanis Club of Evanston has supported Pizzamania for more than 30 years, and has raised around $150,000 for the charity in that time! People from communities all over the North Shore come out to combine Fat Tuesday fun with a wonderful local cause (also: pizza!).
For more than 100 years, Byline has been a fixture of the neighborhoods where we live, work and play. We’re honored that we can give back to the people who truly inspire us. We love this town.
