Our Day at Skokie’s Spring Greening
On Sunday, April 14, Skokie residents drove to Niles North High School to safely dispose of unwanted, expired, unused or unneeded household items. We saw clothing, extension cords, bicycles, electronics, and more at the 9th annual Skokie Spring Greening community reuse and recycling event.
This year, Byline was proud to partner with local community leaders Skokie Park District, Niles Township High School District 219, Village of Skokie, the Skokie Chamber of Commerce and the Skokie Public Library…plus 80 very helpful and necessary volunteers, as the event sponsor.
It’s amazing how much stuff we all manage to accumulate, use up or otherwise go through in a year (no judgment: the hordes of cars packing the lot clearly demonstrated that we all do it!), and Byline supports the joint efforts of civic groups and engaged locals to dispose of clutter properly and efficiently, and to find new homes for old items with life left in them.
For anyone who missed the event, or still has another carload or two of items to let go (hey: we already said no judgment!), there are other opportunities for residents who live within the boundaries of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County to “spring green.” Visit www.swancc.org to find one close to you.
For more than 100 years, Byline has been a fixture of the neighborhoods where we live, work and play. We’re proud to give back to the people who truly inspire us. It’s like we always say: we love this town.
