Our Night at Amate Magic

On Saturday, May 4th, Byline was honored to join with local Chicagoland community, civic and faith-based leaders to support Amate Magic 2019 at Navy Pier. The benefit, which celebrated 35 years of Amate House’s mission of “Putting Love into Action,” raised almost 20 percent of the charity’s needed operating budget for the year.

Amate House provides living and communal space, resources and development for a group of Amate Fellows: young adults who have decided to dedicate a year of their lives to intensive post-graduate service work, serving under-resourced, low-income communities throughout Chicago in social justice and leadership development.

This year, Amate Magic looked back at the impact its fellows have had over the past 35 years. CBS’s Derrick Blakley served as Master of Ceremonies, and provided context of how the landscape of Chicagoland during the time of Amate Fellows’ work impacted their areas of needed service. The evening also recognized winners of the Bernadin Medal, Mary Ellen Nolan Guardian Angel Award and the Founders’ Award, and five cash raffle drawings kept excitement at a peak all night long!

Byline has been a proud and integral part of Chicagoland for over 100 years, and we take our responsibility to our neighborhoods and those who serve them—like the Amate Fellows—very seriously. It’s an honor to be a trusted bank where we live and work, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to give back our own time and talents to the people around us who keep their communities strong and vibrant. We’re just where we want to be.
