Over the past few weeks, Lori Kohn, Jake Gross and Judette Kurasz had been following the news in Afghanistan and trying to find ways they could help. When they heard that Byline’s long-time partner RefugeeOne would be helping a large number of Afghan refugees arriving to the Chicagoland area, they reached out to see how Byline could assist, and ultimately pulled together a small action team of leaders across the bank to set up donation boxes to collect items for RefugeeOne, when they needed it most.
Today, with the help of Susie Goldschmidt and the Oak Park branch team, as well as Tracy McGuire and the Evanston branch teams at Church Street and Central, we are collecting items for RefugeeOne, through Friday, September 10.
Currently, the items needed most are new or good/used condition:
- Towels
- Bedding and Sheets
- School supplies
All items should be dropped off in the boxes as the Oak Park, Evanston Church or Evanston Central locations. We’ll continue to update the list of items needed if anything changes, and will continue to collect items until the boxes are full, or through next Friday, September 10.
