Our Weekend at the Evanston Garden Walk
On Sunday, June 23rd, Byline joined with the Evanston Environment Association (EEA), as well as other civic and business leaders, as a proud sponsor of Evanston’s Garden Walk. The proceeds of this much-loved annual summer event, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, helps provide scholarships for children to attend the Evanston Ecology Center’s summer camps, and also supports their Apiary.
This year, the Walk featured nine private and public gardens within easy walking distance of one another, including a rarely spotted, 1915 hidden gem that is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The Walk is a particularly special event because each year the EEA—which took over the walk from Keep Evanston Beautiful (KEB) seven years ago—carefully considers the thousands of attendees who flock, rain or shine, to the beautifully (and purposefully) varied gardens on rare public display.
From a flowing example of the best use of public condominium building green space to a luxe-but-comfy “real world” family home garden often used for entertaining and everything in between, attendees were able to take home valuable ideas for their own home environments—or simply enjoy a Chicagoland summer’s day before returning home to their lone cactus companion.
Byline was honored to be a part of this very worthy and beloved North Shore annual event. We’ve been a proud and integral part of Chicagoland for over 100 years, and it’s important to us to be good neighbors to the people in our communities. It’s an honor to be a trusted bank where we live and work, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to give back our own time and talents to the people around us who keep their neighborhoods strong and vibrant. We’re just where we want to be.
