We’re Thankful for You
On Sunday, November 24, North Shore branch Byliners joined the Village of Lincolnwood and other local business and civic leaders as we put in some preventative mileage to counteract the following week’s indulgences, at the annual Lincolnwood Turkey Trot 5K/10K & 5K Fitness Walk (and Drumstick Dash, too!). The race is CARA-and USATF certified and chip-timed, making it a popular event for runners eager to get their year-end times down, while locals love it for the flat, fast-travelable terrain and pretty local route. And, because a portion of the Trot’s proceeds go to benefit the Niles Township Food Pantry and Lincolnwood Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund, there are always winners both on and off the course.
Racers brought non-perishable food items with them as donations to the Food Pantry, and received raffle tickets in exchange for their generosity. Meanwhile, littles six and under stretched and readied themselves for the deadly serious Drumstick Dash (that competitive spirit starts early!!). The Dash offered either a 50 or a 100-yard course depending on age and dash-readiness, and all finishers left with a long-sleeved t-shirt, finisher medal, goodie bag and even a selfie with the Turkey Trot mascot as a souvenir of the day!
For more than 100 years, Byline has been a fixture (and a thankful one) of the neighborhoods where we
live, work and play. And at this time of the year in particular, we’re proud we can add something
positive and give back to the people who truly inspire us. It’s like we always say: we love this town.
