Our Night at Artopia: A Night in Old Havana
On April 8, Byline was proud to join with community leaders and engaged local donors to support Artopia: A Night in Old Havana, the 20th annual fundraiser for the Open Studio Project in Evanston. This year’s event was held at Found Kitchen & Social House and featured live and silent auctions as well as dinner, wine, beer, and a specialty cocktail.
For more than 25 years, Open Studio Project has been fulfilling its mission: to teach participants from anywhere in Chicagoland (and beyond!) how to turn to their own creativity in order to increase self-awareness, empathy, and clarity in transitional times or challenge in areas of their lives. Specific issues that students have tackled through artful expression at Open Studio Project have included life-goal clarification, career changes, illness, bereavement, and managing feelings of hopelessness and anger during adolescence.
Byline has been honored to serve our local residents, in the neighborhoods where we live, work and play for over a century. And whether it’s helping to raise money for art and creative enrichment programs across all of our communities, or helping to bring Open Studio Project’s unique art and writing process to Evanston’s youth and adults, we’re proud that we can add something positive and give back to the people who truly inspire us. It’s like we always say: we love this town.
